In May 2012, I received my bachelors degree in English with a Literature Emphasis and a minor in Writing. I graduated with a 3.6 g.p.a. (Cum Laude Honors.) Throughout college, I took various education courses that focused on educational philosophy and physiology, elementary and secondary concentrations, and students with disabilities. Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I prefer to have materials prepared prior to any tutoring session so communication ahead of time will be essential. My comments on tutoring American History : History can be incredibly boring - when it's taught in a boring manner. If you're having trouble paying attention in your American history class, send me an email! We'll use reframing, contextualization, alternative narratives, storytelling, and assorted other methods of engaging with content (and other long words) that should be REALLY AWESOME.

Fun. We'll talk about things in a way you understand, pursue strategies that are both silly and make sense, and use metaphors that are so ridiculous that you'll never forget them. I get very excited about things. It's very exciting. We'll have fun.
Tutored my way through high school, college, and have spent the years after graduation part-time tutoring high school students to get into whichever schools they set their sights on. Throughout high school and college I volunteered at a local summer theater workshop for children. In this program I started out as a teen counselor and moved on to be an adult helper and play director. Also, I worked for a summer as a camp counselor for the Freeport Youth Summer Program where I led children in games and some educational programming. In college I acted as an informal tutor and study buddy to classmates.
I enjoy working with children and always have.
