I teach on a basic level. I like to know what the student wants to get out of a session and whether the topic is interesting. I love to help a student learn to love school and music through tutoring sessions. I have been a math, science, history, and music tutor since high school. I conduct for a church choir and have taken piano lessons for many years. I a currently taking advanced lessons with my college professor. Being a part of many organizations in high school has made college a wonderful experience thus far. I was taught how to study and learn to my benefit, and I would love to help a child learn how to appreciate school and/or music.

Have played piano for 16 years now, and taught piano 7 of those years. I have a lot of experience in teaching and tutoring. I have tutored for about 10 years now, starting with my fellow classmates while still in school and now tutoring one-on-one, mostly for elementary-aged children. I also teach - I conduct a teenage choir, taught at a Ukrainian school for 7 years (grammar, writing, reading, vocabulary), and give individual piano lessons. I feel each child is unique, so their learning style is unique. I especially enjoy using the explorative method of teaching where the child is encourage to explore, examine, and discover with my assistance. I believe that each child has a gift and it is my job to discover where their strengths lie and to foster that strength and know where their weaknesses are and kindle their desire to make those stronger. I believe that every child can learn and achieve, but at their own rate and you have to instill a desire and love of learning in them and make them know they are worthy and capable of achieving what their heart desires. My teaching style varies depending on the age and needs of the student. When I worked with younger children, I often made up a game to help the children learn the material while having fun. Even with older children I tried to make learning interactive and suit their personality. I also varied the amount and type of aid given based on the student’s needs. While I do think learning should be suited to the individual, I do require that the student focus entirely on studying during the tutoring session. I truly enjoy teaching and learning, and I have high expectations for the student's progress. I graduated summa cum laude from Berea College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. I haven taken many courses in biology and chemistry. I am also very proficient in algebra and trigonometry, and I have taken one course in calculus. Teachers must find methods of reaching the minds of students. I am very much an encourager of natural talents and inclinations along the way to skilled demonstration of those talents and inclinations. I have been teaching privately and in select groups for 8 years now. Have experience as a pianist since age 4, and an experienced guitarist and vocalist for 10 years. Have been through many years of lessons and competitions relating to performance and hav also participated in 2 years of marching and concert band as a 1st chair trumpet player.
