I have worked with many kids for years whether it's babysitting or in a classroom. I can help with words and math and come up with ways for them to understand it at their own level. I'll do whatever it takes to make sure they understand and aren't frustrated. Many kids fall in love with me just because I am such a fulfilling person and easy to get along with. I hope to help some get a better knowledge especially those who have a hard time with testing like I did.

Once I graduated I was immediately hired as a long term substitute teacher in South Georgia. I wasn't offered a teaching job for the next school year so I moved here to Spartanburg, SC. I obtained a job at a headstart and a tutoring facility.Then in November 2012 I was hired on at SC School for the Deaf and the Blind. I have taught and tutored many students and adults in a variety of subjects. I enjoy tutoring in math the most because I love this subject. Although this is my favorite, I still enjoy helping people excel in troubling subject areas. As a teacher, I know that each student/ person learns in a different manner. joined the army in 2002. served for over 9 years. Scored a 72 on my ASVAB,and 0ver 110 in all fields of the GT score. So i know a bit about everything that is asked of in the ASVAB test. Especially in the automotive and math sections. Worked in a variety of environments, where i learned housekeeping,cooking,and automotive skills. I can teach in a variety of ways. mainly by using ways to relate to the students understandings. I dont like the costant drilling techniques many people use. As an instructional assistant for kindergarden I was responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with daily instrucion and activities. I provided individual instruction when needed and assisted in developing behavior modificaion plans. I enjoy working with elementary aged children. I believe that all children want to learn but all have individual styles that an instructor must recognize. You can actually see the "a-ha" factor when a child has processed and understood something. That is my favorite expression. It looks like surprise and joy all in one facial expression. I am a firm believer that the best way to learn varies from subject to subject. When I taught math my view was that the best way to teach was to break everything down into a step by step process and have the students memorize the process. Most other subjects can be learned through repitition, but math requires everything to be broken down. I taught 8th through 10th grade at a Christian School in Ludowici. I taught every subject, but never a math course higher then Algebra 1.

I believe in completing an individual needs assessment and designing a study approach around that assessment. I believe in constant reinforcement and reassessment. I also believe it is useful to utilize as many and as varied forms of instruction as possible (written, audio-visual, demonstration, etc.) to solidify a concept.
