I have been very successful in academics throughout my education. I was valedictorian of my high school, and I received the top honors in English, French, and Accounting. I also maintained a 4.0 average throughout my college education.
I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. I know that I have to be flexible and creative with each student. Everyone learns differently, and I feel it is my obligation to find what works for each child. I am currently a mid-career scientist who is looking to transition into the teaching profession. I have tutored high school and college students for several years in chemistry, algebra, physics, and geometry. I have a BS in Chemistry and have taken additional coursework in chemistry and education. I have extensive experience as a chemist working in the laboratory, and have several published research articles in the field.
My goal in teaching is to help students understand how the scientific process affects them on a personal level. I have been employed by the Cambria Heights School District for 14 years as a Title 1 educator. I currently am involved in curriculum math and reading. My job mainly deals with helping students achieve success by developing learning skills that fit the individual needs of specific students and adapting regular classroom instruction to fit those needs.
Most lessons can be taught in various styles but teachers are often faced with a curriculum guideline that they must follow. Often they do not have time to reteach the lesson and students begin to fall behind. With encouragement, guidance, and a new approach, many students can not only "catch up" but also stay succesful in that class.
