I love working with people, and have a lot of patience. I work hard to let the student work through problems themselves before assisting them. A lot of students I have spent time with just need a small amount of encouragement and are very capable of completing their work. How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. It is difficult to describe my teaching style because I try to adapt to the student. Students learn differently and therefore it is my belief that you must observe first and then you have to adapt to the student, especially in a one on one situation. Some students may learn better if you play a game with them, others if you read them a passage. I try to learn as much as I can about the student and adapt to their individual needs, especially for those with learning disabilities and special needs.

I began my professional career in land surveying. After the birth of my two sons I revised my goals toward an educational experience at the elementary level. I completed my practicum in Elementary Education and performed a year of substitute teaching in both the elementary and middle school levels. Since that time I went on to complete a secondary degree in mathematics with a certification in secondary level education.
