As a workshop leader, I meet with students on a weekly basis to complete difficult organic chemistry problems and answer any questions that they may have. My teaching style is best described as observational and flexible; students have very different "windows' that allow them to learn, especially with abstract subjects. As a teacher I have to observe what works best for a student and then deliver the information in a variety of ways to accommodate these different styles. This is in direct response to the "sink or swim" curriculum I encountered throughout my own academic career. One of the best ways I have found to observe each students learning style is by using a "guided inquiry" approach.
