Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects! In addition to a bachelor's degree in chemistry, I have a master's degree specializing in organic chemistry.

I received my bachelor's degree in chemistry (ACS Certified) from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009 and my master's degree in organic chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 2012. Throughout my undergraduate education, I acted as an official tutor for the chemistry department and as a teaching assistant for the general chemistry and chemistry for non-majors teaching labs. As a teaching assistant, I was responsible for presenting pre-lab lectures, demonstrating experimental setups, and grading quizzes and lab reports. The teacher also helps build a foundation in subject matter to help develop a lifelong appreciation and understanding of the world through different disciplines.
In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. A Little Bit About Me...

Growing up, I was always very gited academically. I never struggled with school, and learning was an easy pleasure. I graduated as valedictorian, and when I got to college I started tutoring to help others that had more difficulty in class. I didn't begin tutoring as a job until about two years ago, and since then have tutored in subjects including reading, math, and chemistry. A Little Bit About Me...

Math has always been my favorite subject to tutor because I am a problem-solver, by nature. Whenever one of my students has difficulty understanding a math problem, I take it from a different approach and once they understand the concept and that “light-bulb comes on,” I get over-whelmed with excitement….I’ve gotten through to them! Nevertheless, there are times when you think you have accomplished your goal and you later find out that the student did not retain the information previously learned. I found, through my experience, that this can be avoided by positive reinforcement. Some students do not retain information as well as others, so I love the use of math tricks in teaching the multiplication tables and acronyms, such as “PLEASE EXCUSE MY DEAR AUNT SALLY” to help students recall a process. These methods have worked well for my students and this is evident in their grades.
