My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have been teaching poetry for 5 years within the school setting. Some of my students have won awards with their poetry writing.

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. I always teach with different styles due to my experience working in China, Ohio, and other areas.

I consider myself to be a "beginner" teacher as I have recently graduated college and received my license. I have spent roughly 500 hours in the field as a result of college course requirements, and I have successfully completed a 12 week internship (student teaching) experience. I have had the opportunity to work in many different subject areas and classroom settings with students of various backgrounds, ages, and learning styles.

My name is Abel Araya and I love to write stories.

My teaching style is a bit unorthodox. It's easy to lecture through to the class, but it doesn't really engage the student to want to learn. When I was in college, a lot of my professors had styles that were much more intimate and personal with the students. Once I have established where he/she needs work, I show the student a different way of looking at the problem(s). I use their motivations to demonstrate the value of learning the subject in which he/she struggles. I show the student different perspectives, diagrams, and use additional resources such as quiz games. I let the student know that he/she is not alone in his/her struggle.
