I like to use a mix of direct instruction and self-guided learning in my teaching. I use a variety of hands on manipulatives and I also like to get students up and moving around.
I am a recent graduate of the education program at Bowling Green State University and I have had a variety of experiences with children of all ages and abilities in and out of the classroom. I completed an 8 week field placement at Robinson Elementary in Toledo, OH where I assisted the teacher in a self-contained seventh and eighth grade classroom. I have just graduated high school, and have just finished thirteen years of learning. I have ADD, and have had a semester's worth of interning at the Specialized Language Development Center, working with kids who struggle with reading, writing, and comprehension. Kids brought to the center are usually dyslexic, ADD/ADHD, or have some type of learning disability, however, those without disabilities come for help too, ranging from kindergarden all the way to college level students.

I've taken everything from Calculus 2 and Differential Equations on down with only Calc 3 left to go for math. For High School I went to Holland High School and graduated with a 4.05 GPA (weighted based on AP classes). I've been involved in FIRST Robotics, Dutch Football and a few other activities.

I look for students to build their own answers through logical and intuitive reasoning based on my feedback. If the student truly struggles, I basically breakdown the subject matter into blocks and demonstrate it in a logical fashion. Most of the time, I believe the student needs to learn how to learn.
