I find that teaching is as much about getting to know each person, finding there strengths and weaknesses and using those to benefit them in their process of understanding. I like to come up with creative approaches that will suit each individual's strengths for learning. I know that one on one attention, support and encouragement is a large component of what is missing in a lot of today's public school classrooms and love the opportunity that tutoring can provide to children who can learn just as well as anyone else, but may not be finding success in the classroom. I easily earned two Associates degrees, prior to earning my Bachelors degree, graduating Cum Laude. I excelled in Mathematics as well, and enjoy tutoring it as well. My English 101 and 102 professor encouraged me to major in English as well, but I was so involved in science classes for physical education, I opted not to add the other major. I was the president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and a member of the USA-Today All Academic Team. I know children learn in different ways and incorporate several techniques that engage all children. I am elated to see the light go on when children "get it." I am a graduate of the University of Miami holding two bachelor degrees, BS in Communications focusing on Film Production and Marketing and a BS in English focusing on Creative Writing.
