I believe one on one tutoring is very helpful to all children. Many children are behind in school because they are not getting the attention they need. I love to teach and work with children. That is why I am entering the field of Speech Language Pathology.

I use verbal and visual techniques for teaching and prefer to add an element of kinetic learning for tutoring. I explain the material in the book, preferably after the students have read the chapter. I also provide time for questions and answers, as well as group discussions and projects. I rely on exams only to show me if the students are understanding the material. I started tutoring part time in 2004 and have continued this throughout college. I worked as a math tutor for tulsa community college part time during the summer. I have earned over 190 hours of college credit, I have two degrees, and I am only 15 hours away from a chemical engineering degree.
I am very adaptive to students learning style. I usually spend the first ten minutes of our first meeting figuring out what the student is struggling with and how to best meet their needs. I try to teach students more how to think analytical more so then just solving problems because it is more beneficial to the student. I feel that if I can teach the student how to read theorems, understand concepts, then problems just become easy at that point.
