Although I am advanced as far as the subject areas I would be tutoring in are concerned, I am still able to present the content to the student in the unique way that they are able to understand it. This is important, since no two students think alike and, in my experience, a majority of students do have trouble with math and math-intensive sciences such as physics. Teaching is a means to find a student's misconceptions and correct them. I try to do this by engaging the students in conversation, asking them leading questions, or watching them work. I try to build classroom bonds, making communication easier. I have tutored non-professionally for some time. Doing so has provided me with experience with a variety of students ranging from the first grade level to college freshman. I cater accordingly to each level of student, always exercising patience and approaching topics from multiple angles. I understand that some students are visual, kinesthetic, or auditory learners, or a combination of all three. I am a very patient tutor because I believe everyone can start as a blank slate and become a math expert. I feel that the foundational blocks of math often are not communicated well to students. I have a knack for seeing holes in their understanding and patching up the holes. My teaching style involves conveying the foundation and showing how it connects to the higher level math subjects, which sometimes can be difficult to understand.

I have a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science and Statistics. I have 24 years of experience in software development for the U.S. Army. I have done ballistics calculations for nuclear warheads, geometry checks for rocket systems and developed the math procudures to do all the mathematical calculations within the systems developed.
I love math and computer science. I believe all children that loves video games, texting, and the internet can grow to enjoy mathematics afterall that is how all of that was developed. I believe all children wants to learn but sometimes they shut down because it is hard. I can make learning fun and I give them the confidence they need to want to continue learning.
