My comments on tutoring Drawing : I received my bachelor of fine arts degree in Studio Arts and Graphic Design, so I am confident teaching any style or use of medium in Drawing.

I go as fast or as slow as the student needs. I encourage students to try new techniques and ideas so they are self-aware of the process and learning experience that leads to self-improvement and development.
During the school year, I work as a curriculum coordinator and art teacher for an after school program in Lexington, Ma. This is my 6th year of teaching stimulating and unique art projects to children in grades K-5. I have interned as a graphic designer and also had jobs as a wedding photographer. During the summer, I work as an assistant director to a summer enrichment program in Winchester, Ma. Outside of work- I am a member at large of the Boston Guild of Puppeteers, and also work on my own art which includes building my portfolio of paintings to show and sell, as well as complete small digital photography jobs.

Drawing is one of my top subjects! Drawing is a very important skill to master not only of those who want to become better artist, but also those who simply wish to be more expressive individuals. Drawing creates the foundation for nearly every artistic discipline, whether it be paining, illustration, graphic design, or even printmaking. Over the years I have developed exception drawing skills and have become very adept at both seeing and rendering objects as they appear in space. Teaching someone else how to draw and in turn become a better artist is something I greatly enjoy.

As an art teacher, I want my students to learn to enjoy the creative process and develop an appreciation art, even if it is not something they readily excel at or are considering for a future career path. Through exploration of the many different forms of art, such as drawing, painting, three-dimensional design, and even computer-aided illustration, it is my goal to help my students break free from the stereotypical notion that art is all about making the most realistic image possible or that there is one right way to create. Too often one’s creativity is stifled due to fear or criticisms, or that their idea will not be good enough. It is my hope that though a combination of traditional foundation art skills, like learning how to correctly view an object in space and modern teaching techniques, that my students will learn to overcome this fear, and become expressive individuals who think ... read more

Have been painting murals and creting decrotive finishes for restaurants and hotels since 1983. Most recently have been creating murals for corporate event companies and giving painting lessons to a select few. I paint in a photo realist style and intigrate graphic lighting to give each work a punch. In helping students learn to paint they first must learn to draw.
I have a hands on teaching style and work closely with the pupil to make them understand what goes into creating a work of art

I recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with two bachelor's degrees. One degree is in Spanish and I consider myself completely fluent, especially having spent a semester in Costa Rica. During this time I volunteered at a school teaching students ages 5 through 18 English at different levels. My other degree is in Social Thought and Political Economy which required a lot of writing, generally 15 to 25 page papers per class. It is a major dedicated to social change and I learned subjects in all areas including History, Current Affairs, Politics and Political Science.
I have been a gymnastics instructor for about eight years which has helped in shaping my teaching style. I love to push children in a supportive manner so that they can believe in themselves and truly get the most of their education. On top of teaching for the semester in Costa Rica, I also wor ... read more

I feel I am qualified to be a tutor due to my current and previous teaching experiences in elementary and middle school, as well as, the successful completion of hands-on educational courses in History, Math, Language Arts, and Science from my graduate program. In addition to the course work through my graduate program, I have had several long-term teaching positions in which I gained even more experience in classrooms. Most of my long-term teaching positions allowed me to teach Science, Mathematics, and Language Arts and create numerous hands-on learning experiences. I strongly believe that it is through these hands-on experiences that students are able to grasp specific terminology as well as any other complicated concepts that may be a foundation for learning a given curriculum. In addition to implementing hands-on activities for students, I have completed an Independent Learning ... read more

I believe that all children in this country have a right to a world class education. I also believe that education is a partnership between the teachers, parents and students but, understand that due to economic and social conditions not all parents are as active in their child education. I have tutored children in Reading and Math and I have often been told that I try to make learning as easy as possible by relating the topics being taught to topics that the students encounter in there every day lives
I have been working with children as a baseball coach and softball umpire for over 25 years and often parents have told me that I must be a teacher as I worked so well with children. Five years ago I decided to change careers from management and go into education. I went back to school and completed a masters program in elementary education with a 3.8 G.P.A. A Little Bit About Me...

My formal teaching experience is with young adults at the graduate level as a Teaching Assistant and as an Assistant Professor. As a TA my style was collegial. I was learning and teaching at the same time. I tried to make the process informal and fun. As a Professor there were times when I was expected to be more formal and quickly learned that I enjoyed this much less than the looser give and take that characterized my seminars and workshops. My unofficial teaching experience derives from many years as a construction project manager, primarily in academic settings. Typically this activity was marked by respect and considerable patience, while imparting information, setting firm schedules and achieving mutual objectives.
I wanted to get a broad education when looking at colleges and applied only to 5 year, double degree programs. A young, analytically oriented program in urb ... read more

I think one of the most important qualities for a teacher is to have a radiant enthusiasm for the subject you are teaching. After all, how can you get the students excited to learn, if you are not excited about the material you are teaching? You also need to be observant and able to identify how your students learn best and cater to their different learning styles. Finally and mostly importantly, a good teacher is patient and believes in their students' potentials and enthusiastically aids their students in reaching those potentials.

I have a passion for knowledge, and have tutored high school and college students in the area of History, reading, and writing composition. I love teaching, and watching the student progress and excel!
My teaching style is more along the lines of the Montessori system. Given the freedom and much direction from the tutor, the student will often "discover" the essence of the lesson. In discovering the essence of the lesson, the student will take ownership. In taking ownership, the student in turn will develop pride, self worth, and a thirst for more knowledge and more successes.
