I have taught undergraduate courses in Business, Business Law, Marketing, Management, Communications (including public speaking) and most other courses needed for a business degree, such as preparing a business plan or a financial budget. I was Director of the Paralegal Studies Program at Stautzenberger College (Cleveland) which educates students for postitions in the legal field and court reporting. I developed the courses and conducted seminars on federal funding, grants and contracts.
Totally student-centered. I encourage rather than demand. I believe that it is my responsibility to find the teaching method which is most effective for a student to learn. Some learn by doing, some by reading, some by a creative process. The goal is to allow the student to understand and retain the material for his or her later practical application.

I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.

I believe teaching is the key to each child's future. When presented with the chance to succeed, I believe each child will. I believe in presenting each child with a verbal and visual explanation of each objective. I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Flexibility is another thing that many students are not allowed in class, and I believe is very important to success. This is permitted in my classes on an as-needed basis.
