My comments on tutoring Genetics : I tutor in genetics online

I am focused on getting you to understand the material such that you can answer multiple choice questions easily. I focus on test prep. I like to use examples in real life to help you understand. If one example doesn't work, I use others. I prefer to use animations to get you to understand.
I have taught Anatomy and Physiology at the college level so I know the kind of questions that will be asked on exams and can teach you what to focus on. I can give you practice exams. I have tutored in Biology and focus on my student's needs. I got a 33 on the MCAT without studying much and I can teach you how to do that too.

My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed him for a lifetime" would apply to my style. I try to make sure the student understands the principles behind the type of problem and not just how to do the one problem. That way, if they see another problem like the one they just learned, they can apply what the learned and do the second problem.

I am a graduate of Clemson University, with a BA in Biological Sciences. I have always enjoyed biology since my first AP class my Junior year of high school. After college graduation I worked for six months in a cancer research lab, which gave me the knowledge of "real life" science and how that effects our lives I have worked as an after school and summer camp counselor which has helped me learn how to relate to them, and teach them material they are learning in school.
I love that look that you get from a child who gets what you are teaching them. When the light bulb turns on, and you know that they understand the process. That's what makes it all worth it. My teaching style is that with enough work, any child can succeed. They just have to know they matter to the teacher. I am a hands on learner myself so visual tools help me to teach the concepts to students.
