I enjoy helping children master elementary skills that are the building blocks to their reading comprehension and finding ways to encourage them to read more books and to realize the significance of expressing themselves through writing. I enjoy finding the best way that each student learns (visual, auditory, or 'doing'). I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning can be frustrating for many students when a particular subject does not come as naturally or easily as other subjects. Thus, I do my best to incorporate student's interests into reward systems and constantly give the student positive feedback about their progress to help motivate the student.
