While an undergraduate student at a top university, I pushed myself academically. I also focused on trying to help people by teaching resume writing and job interviewing workshops at my university’s Career Development office. Helping fellow students further their careers was very satisfying and inspiring. Upon graduation, I counseled, trained, and equipped American and foreign college-level and graduate students for a non-profit. Later, in graduate school, I worked in Student Affairs, holding workshops, hosting social events, resourcing students and managing print projects. I was also a TA in my two MA programs; I led tutorials, graded coursework, lectured, and conducted research. Teaching others continues to be my life’s passion.
I enjoy taking what I know about a subject, weighing what my student's learning style is and then tailoring a lesson so that student best understan ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored four different children (1st-5th grade) over the course of four years for the Teton Literacy Program, a non-profit group located in Jackson, Wyoming. I met with each child after school at the facility or the local public library for hour-long sessions, working on grammar, pronunciation, and writing, focusing on each students' strengths and weaknesses and helping them catch up to their appropriate grade level as well as building their confidence. In addition, I worked on the I-CAN book project, through the Literacy Program, coaching a second grade class with the creation and assimilation of a story book.
I enjoy helping children master elementary skills that are the building blocks to their reading comprehension and finding ways to encourage them to read more books and to realize the significance of expressing themselves through writing. I enjoy finding the best way that e ... read more

I believe that all students deserve a chance to be successful, and my teaching goal is to find ways that allow them to be. I understand that success comes in many forms, and I believe even the littlest successes should be praised to help build up a child's academic attitude. I treat all students with respect and expect that they show me respect in return. I am extremely patient, positive and hard working. I love teaching, and hope that I can help those that I work with reach their full potentials.
In 2006 I attended Pacific Lutheran University earning my masters degree in educational leadership with endorsements in special education, reading, and elementary education. After graduate school, I found a job in a middle school EBD classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked for six years at William King Museum, where I developed and taught art curriculum to students Pre-K through 12 and trained instructive staff in our 12 programs. I served as a traveling classroom instructor in our 14 district service area where my presentations consisted of one-half hour of historical/cultural content and one hour of hands-on art. I utilized my knowledge of literature to enhance various art projects. I have worked with young children on their reading skills and in understanding themes in literature. I am competent in grammar and composition. As you may gather from my first undergraduate degree in English literature, I enjoy the written word and am familiar with both American and English literature.

I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning ca ... read more

I tutored Geometry and worked in several classrooms at both the high school and middle school level throughout my time at Western. After graduation, I taught seventh grade Medieval World History at Alderwood Middle School in the Edmonds School District. Through that position I not only gained experience within the middle school classroom, but also in teaching analysis within research papers and essays, basic reading, decoding, writing, and research skills with an incredibly diverse population.
