A Little Bit About Me...

I have studied chemistry and biology throughout my undergraduate career. Classes I have taken and received high grades in include beginning chemistry classes, organic chemistry, beginning biology classes, and cell biology. I just recently graduated from Ball State and am returning in the Fall to begin work on my masters in chemistry. My interest lies in analytical chemistry, which teaches you the various techniques and apparatuses that every chemist should know how to use, as well as real world skills to help a chemist know how to approach a certain problem or situation without the help of a lab manual. I am very good with people, and am pretty patient and easy going as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

No person learns identically to anyone else, therefore I approach pupils from their learning styles. I engage them, finding out what methods have worked and get a quick generalized understanding of how they learn. I challenge students to their frustration level (Piaget) and modify the situation to ensure success with clear possibilities to expand and learn more and in different ways. More About This Tutor...

I enjoy tutoring those who are in Middle School or High school. I feel as though they tend to have a higher capacity for sustaining attention. Those are unique ages that can really build a foundation for later education. I believe that one-on-one time is essential in learning. Some people might learn well in a large group, but others learn much better when time is spent on explaing specific details. I find the most enjoyment when a tutee finally links the core concept and is able to solve more difficult problems on their own.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching Reading Strategies and Basic Math at a community college for approximately 10 years. I have also taught pre-school, 3rd/4th in one classroom, and 5th, the last 2 classrooms were self-contained. I have experience in substitute teaching on various levels in a variety of school corporations. I also taught one year of elementary art for a parochial school. Children are our heritage. Children have an innate desire to learn and I believe that with proper guidance, each child can be successful. I endeavor to determine what the child is interested in learning and build from there. Education is a very high priority in our family and we encourage others to further their education, whether it involves college or study on one's own, in order to better themselves.
I began homeschooling my children in 1993. My older son was in 8th grade, my younger son was in 4th grade, my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten, and my twin daughters were 2 years old.
