Drawing is one of my top subjects! I have taken many Art classes, drawing being one of the ones that I took many times. I will teach the basics of shapes, shading, lines, and values.

Throughout high school, I had trouble trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I graduated. I took many classes that ranged from Weight Training to Biology. I took many Art classes in which I excelled at. I then took some Computer Technology classes and I loved it. So I figured I would put the two together and took Graphic Design classes. I loved it. I am very competent in using all sorts of Graphic Design programs. I got my first guitar around 8 years ago and just picked it up and learned it. I have been learning ever since. I personally, have taught many people the basics of guitar and gave them the tools to excel in music.

I love teaching. Currently I am working with adults in debt management and financial counseling. Money management is critical to the survival of a family and easily sabotaged by impulse spending. I most enjoy one-on-one situations. I have good people skills and have worked with children and adults from many cultures and walks of life.
I was first introduced to accounting by owning my own business. Then I was hired by an engineering company to update their bookkeeping method from paper to computer. I became proficient in troubleshooting discrepancies and providing users with solutions. I interfaced with Federal and State taxing agencies, banks, and lending institutions requiring reports and/or payments. I then moved on to a Software Development company as a Product Manager of accounting software being developed for internet use by accountants. I trained and answered questions, ... read more

I want to help students question to find meaning in life. I want to help students learn which questions to ask so that their answers are founded in principle and not merely reactions against traditional authority or thought. The art of learning is a skilled art. The task of leading another to discovery is a weighty one. I take the time of my students seriously. I would not waste their time any more than I wish mine to be wasted. Passion drives my life and my teaching. I feel the literature. I feel language. I recognize the need to individualize the presentation to each student’s experiences and understandings if s/he is to discover the joy of learning.

Ever since I was introduced to American Sign Language (ASL), I have been deeply fascinated in the language and its speakers. A year after my initial experience with ASL, I decided to create my own Bachelor's Degree at the University of Utah. I was able to design curriculum pertaining to my desired field of interest. The classes I took were mostly education related. I had several classes in education psychology, multi-cultural education, diversity and culture. My major emphasis was on language and more specifically, deaf culture. Last Spring I tutored a family in their home in Park City. Their daughter was a participant in the SLC Deaflympics this past winter and they wanted to learn how to sign. It was a wonderful experience. I am an extremely organized person and love to be creative. I enjoy writing and art in my spare time. I also enjoy helping students learn to communicate ... read more

My teaching style varies depending on the type of students I am teaching to because I believe that each student has a particular learning style that they find easier. I think that it is important to find the types of learning that each student finds easiest to understand, and tailor the course so that it works well with their particular learning abilities. This can easily be done in a classroom setting as well as an individual basis. In either case, while I am teaching I think that it is important to understand the topic we are on before moving to the next one. Slowing down to completely grasp each idea helps students to gain confidence in their learning ability, and actually helps the classroom or individual to progress much faster overall. Giving students a hope for their future ability to learn is one of the best things I can do for them.
In preparation for college, I knew that ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a student working towards a Mathematics degree, very quickly I migrated away from the applied and into the pure, theoretical, aspects of Mathematics. Being familiar with math from several different pure standpoints (Topology, Algebra, and Analysis) I understand the benefit of being taught a concept from different viewpoints. I find teaching with more of a Topological flavor adds great depth to math, even for those at a young age. There is however a learning curve that must be overcome to grasp math in a visual way. If that milestone appears to be undesired, or insurmountable, I try and teach in a more straight forward, student-discovery, method of teaching.
During the spring of 2007 I tutored a college senior in Business Calculus. We would meet at a local bagel shop and go over homework problems he was having difficulty with. If these misunderstanding appeared to run deeper than ... read more
