A Little Bit About Me...

As a homeschooler from fifth grade through high school, I learned the value of personalized instruction. My passion for learning the sciences led me to a double major in chemistry and mechanical engineering. While completing my degrees, I have been granted several opportunities to tutor in chemistry, mathematics, calculus, and the engineering sciences. In addition, I have worked closely with my instructors as a laboratory assistant in the freshman chemistry labs, and have been promoted to the position of laboratory instructor while I complete my second degree.
I enjoy working with a student until I see the "light bulb" come on. Because people are individuals, I realize that the same approach will not work with every student. I earned my mechanical engineering degree from The Ohio State University and worked as an engineer and a manager in a scientific field for over 20 years before starting my own business in information research. Throughout my life, I have naturally gravitated to a teacher/mentor role because of my ability to help children and adults learn new concepts. I have experience assisting children in math and science and in giving music lessons.
As a parent of middle school students, I understand the importance of motivating students by using real world examples and providing hands-on experiences.
