I believe in helping people that need help. So in college I began tutoring and started to do a bunch of community service projects. I have two years in tutoring experience. I tutor subjects such as algebra, pre-cal, biology, microbiology, world religion, psychology and the list continues. The Friendly Math Guy Next Door

Although I can and have made lesson plans as a tutor, I prefer just explaining and working similar examples to whatever specific questions students bring to me in an effort to have them work through their own specific problems themselves with me there to assist.

Effective, caring tutoring from an experienced tutor

I summarize my approach to tutoring with "3 E's": Enthusiasm, Engagement, and Encouragement. I try hard to make each session fun and to engage the student in seeking the solution, rather than just teaching him or her a method.
I have been tutoring in math since I was in Jr High. Initially my students were sisters and brothers, then nephews and nieces, and finally I began tutoring as a second career. I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information.
