I am a natural teacher - it's what I do when I'm not getting paid. I just like to share knowledge of what, why, when, where, and how. I like the process of learning, and it is a privilege to get to witness, or even positively influence, that process in someone else. I have been paid for my teaching skills for the past 9 years, in various settings, including piano instruction, guitar instruction, tutoring at the Community College in Chemistry, Biology, and Microbiology, as well as assist teaching for the Decatur Public School District. A Little Bit About Me...

When I tutor I try and understand where they are having trouble and try to find the best way of explaining in a way that is beneficial to the student.
While at Springfield College I started tutoring some of my fellow students in the areas of math and science for a little extra cash. I have always wanted to mimic the kind of tutoring I received as a struggling math student in middle school. I was never the best at math until I started to receive tutoring and everything started to click. The extra help I got in math was essential to my studies at the university level and all my previous coursework leading up. I want to be that tutor who helped everything click.

I graduated from Monmouth College with a B.A Degree in Mathematics while being a four-year starter and two-year football team captain. I can serve as an example that studies and extracurricular activities can go hand in hand. For the first two years I was a chemistry major and my science coursework included botany, geology, and astronomy. Furthermore, my non-math and science electives were focused on ancient Greek philosophy, society, and recreation. The liberal arts curriculum and an incredible grammar teacher in high school have provided me with excellent literary skills as well. As a student at Eastern Illinois University (EIU) I majored in Accounting and minored in Chemistry and Pre-medicine. This path provided me with a well rounded education, which required me to take many courses in Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biological Sciences, Accounting, Tax, etc. As a student at EIU I was a Lord scholar graduating Summa Cum Laude with an accumulated GPA of 3.94/4.00. When I completed my masters degree my family and I moved to the Saint Louis area where I worked as a CPA and taught accounting and individual income tax at Southwestern Illinois College and Saint Louis University.
