I have been a substitute teacher for grades K-12 since 2001 and worked as a tutor for Siena's Higher Education Opportunity Program. As an educational consultant for 3 years, I coordinated college fairs, campus visits, and taught workshops on Writing the College Application Essay. I won several awards for my undergraduate senior thesis and was inducted into honor societies and "Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges." A Little Bit About Me...

I find working with children rewarding. I am patent and understanding and cater to individual learning styles. I use my artistic sense to help students visually understand learning. I believe the key to understanding and learning is to make learning fun and memorable. I'm a strong believer in constructivist learning and believe that children need to explore to learn.

How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to discover what my students already know about the topic and to expose any misconceptions. Brainstorming activities work well for me. I like to help define the topic in common terms, not the classic dictionary method. I use presentation, discussion, videos and hands on activities. Most of what I do is inquiry based.
