A Little Bit About Me...

While I was in high school, I took honors courses and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I tutored an 8th grade-9th grade boy in TCAPS preparation and helped him complete homework in Math (pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-geometry), Science (biology), and English. I tutored him for two years. After I graduated high school I was accepted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I am currently in the spring semester of my sophomore year. I will be returning to Johnson City this summer and am available to tutor. I babysit two young boys currently, one of whom is 5 and I help him with kindergarten homework,such as learning words and reading. I am capable of helping with all ages. I have worked with different levels of mental health and emotional maturity for several years. I have spent much of my spare time working within the community at youth centers, soup kitchens and veteran administration homes. I enjoy working with children and adults and helping them discover the resources they have within them. My job as a teacher is to put myself out of work by providing my students with all the tools they need to become proficient, motivated self-learners. I believe we learn best by doing. I try to help my students reach for the information they need to solve a problem by pointing them to what they already know to begin tackling the problem.
