The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I take a lot from the amazing teachers I've had and would hope to be able to pass that on. I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. Since that time, I've worked as a legal assistant/paralegal with different law firms in town. Recently, I decided to return to school and received my certificate in Massage Therapy.

While in Undergraduate School, I was a tutor in the Florida A&M University Chemistry Lab. This was my employment for my last year of Undergraduate Studies. After graduation, I taught for two years at an inner-city high school in Tallahassee, where I taught Chemistry, Chemistry Honors, and GED Science. I also was certified in Middle Grades Mathematics, and served as a tutor for students individually as well as a collective Educational Sponsor for the Boys' Basketball Team. I also have extensive experience in the field of mathematics, as I have taken classes from College Algebra to Calculus 3. I love working with students, and I have an affinity for those students that are hard to reach, as well as those with learning disabilities. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs. My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed. While attending Florida A&M University I always had a passion for Mathematics, therefore my first year I took Honors Calculus I and received a grade of a 'B'. From that point I completed my Bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems and took my passion in math and began to work on my MEd in Secondary education.
