Helping Others To Accomplish Their Goals

My style is what works for the person I am working with. I am opened to sharing my ideas, but listening to each individual and what works for them.
I have worked with various needy students who have been classified as learning disabled, or those who know they are in need for assistance. My experiences vary, as I worked with older children in filling out applications for jobs and to prepare for jobs. I also, have worked with many adults on writing papers for college preparation or with helping their children on writing tasks. I have worked with young children on phonics and reading readiness.

All kids can learn no matter what their disability!

Patient. I work at the students pace and tighten the rigor where the student can succeed.
I have been teaching special education for over 6 years. I've taught low functioning students with Learning disabilities, autism, MR, etc... Some kids learn at a different pace and some progress, while it may not be much, opens the door to confidence and hope. Very relaxed and encouraging. I use quite a bit of discussion, and I like to ask students questions that lead them down the path to help them discover the answers they seek. I have found that information is better retained if one can guide the student to the conclusion that they seek, building upon the knowledge that is already there. One of my favorite thing is watching stidents' faces when they have the "Aha!" Moments.
