I have experience teaching G.E.D. students in various levels of Reading, Writing and Grammar. I have always enjoyed Language Arts and would be interested in teaching either Elementary, Middle School or High School students. I would enjoy this opportunity. My teaching style would be similar to that of a coach. As a Tutor, I would strive to develop a student's potential while inspiring and motivating the student to learn new skills and to excel. My teaching style would focus on developing rapport, motivating, teaching and building the student's confidence. I would encourage the student to practice new skills and provide suggestions for continued improvement in order for the student to achieve their educational goals. I have a Master of Accounting degree from Virginia Tech, where I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I taught Accounting, Finance and Business Math for two years at the undergraduate level after graduation. I am currently Controller for a medium-sized construction company, and use all aspects of accounting and finance in my daily work life. I focus on using examples from real business to explain problems and assignments in a clear, straightforward and step-by-step manner. I enjoy teaching and mentoring students and have been complimented many times by former students for my ability to explain complicated concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand. I believe it is important not understand not just the how of the work, but also the why, so that the students will be able to apply what they learn in the future.

Motivational, easy going, encouraging , never critical. I love working with children and I enjoy seeing their light bulb come on.
