My preferred teaching style is discussion with leadership. When the student can relate to the information through own experience or peer experience the information is better absorbed. In a classroom situation a certain amount of lecture is also needed to stimulate the conversation and present the subject materials. As a tutor it would be more a discussion and personal discovery that isn't as easy with a large class.
I hold a wide variety of experience in both education and industry. I earned degrees in Broadcasting and Speech/Communications. With these, I worked in public relations, advertising, community college teaching and broadcasting. As a cum laude graduate with my Masters in Counseling I am very much driven and motivated to help and assist others in their endeavors to achieve and do well. I have had several years of tutoring elementary students in math and reading. I have been effective at it and welcome the opportunity to do it again.
