A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a full-time teacher for the past three years and substitute taught for one year. The past two years I have taught seventh and eighth grade math and social studies and sixth grade reading. The classes at the school where I teach are ability leveled, I teach the on-level ability students. The students in these classes often need extra help and more time and patience in understanding and mastering concepts. In addition to teaching, I have also tutored students of different ability and grade levels, both after school and during the summer months. I was also an instructor for the D.R.E.A.M.S. after school tutoring program in the Edison Local School District.

As a young person, I thought I did not need to go to college. It did not take long to realize I was wrong. Over the next 20 years, I raised two children, worked, and attended classes. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in Information Systems. As an education advocate, I have mentored school-age children with English, Writing, and computer skills. At my church, I taught first grade CCD for six years. As a student and marketing rep, I have an extensive portfolio of marketing and writing pieces. I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. I do not possess documented experience from schools or other organizations. I am a very highly motivated individual that does not mind helping others. I also have experience in teaching or helping coach little league sports educating kids on how to play games correctly.
