A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my last two years teaching, I have come to love teaching students in writing and literature. I believe one of the most valuable and long-lasting skills an educator can provide students with is strong literacy, and the ability to both read comprehensively and write clearly. I have been blessed with professors at the university level who understand the importance of one-on-one instruction. Through the "creativity" of thoughtful instructors I have seen myself grow and develop in ways that I hadn't thought possible. Every student learns differently, and once the instructor gets to know the student well enough and is able to tailor their lessons to the needs of the student, true learning happens. Teaching isn't just about preparing a student for a test; teaching is about creating and inspiring the desire to learn within the student so that they will be learn, not just because they are forced to, but because they are thirsty for knowledge.

If you looked over my resume, you would see that I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a year of experience as an adjunct instructor at a medical career college and two years teaching English as a Second Language at a private institution. However, if you looked over my life, you would see that I have been teaching, tutoring and mentoring my entire life. I have volunteered as a mentor, a tutor, and a teacher in community organizations, in local schools, and at my local church; and I home schooled my own children.
