Hello, My name is Youngjae! I graduated from Johns Hopkins University and have double major degrees in both Public Health and the Natural Sciences Area. While I tutor a number of subjects, math, biology, and chemistry are my favorites. In college, I worked as a biology mentor with the Biology department, where I helped my peers learn difficult concepts and ultimately excel in the class. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Ph.D in Physical/Organic Chemistry. I come from a family of Chemists, scientists and doctors. I have been teaching chemistry for over 15 years in a private University in Baltimore. I am an experienced teacher in chemistry. Chemistry is second nature to me.
I am competent in teaching all areas of chemistry. I enjoy every moment of my teaching and very passionate about chemistry. I go extra mile to make my students understand and spend extra time with weaker students. I have tutored, general and organic chemistry to several college students. I also tutored General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry for 2 years at Naval Academy. I love computer science. My one to one teaching style is tailored to adapt to the students learning style. However, my experience shows that keeping the student active during the learning process promotes a better learning. I use Microsoft Excel during my lessons. I create formulas, graphs, etc. and the Excel spreadsheet and ask the student to enter the data so that he/she can see how things change with different entries. This interactive process increased the student interest, kept them focused and helped them to hold the knowledge in many instances.

I have a fairly informal teaching style, and I tend to use a lot of humor. I try to connect the information I am trying to convey to what the student already knows, rather than simply provide facts to be learned by rote and regurgitated on an exam.
After college I worked for three years.During that time I applied and received a scholarship to the Medical College of Pennsylvania, from which I graduated in 1994. I completed an Internal Medicine Residency at MCP in 1997. After residency I worked as an attending physician in Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2000, and in Berlin, Maryland, from 2001 to 2004. In January, 2004, my wife became severely ill, and I decided to take time off to raise my two young daughters. I taught at the Dawn Training Center in Wilmington, DE, from May to October, 2006. I also have extensive experience teaching junior housestaff and Nurse Practitioner trainees.
