While my experience as a trainer has been with adult employees, they have been a diverse group in terms of age, educational background, literacy and experience. A Little Bit About Me...

I realize that learning reading and writing skills can be difficult. When I teach young people, I work to push each person patiently but constantly to improve with each lesson. Each person learns a little differently, and I like to learn the student’s strengths and weaknesses and work from there. I support hands-on learning. There is only so much a person can talk about writing. The best way to learn writing is to write. The best way to improve reading comprehension is to read. Reading unlocks vocabulary. And a good vocabulary helps in written and verbal communication. A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher in Ukraine, I was not there to replace the normal history and literature teachers. Instead, I supplemented their lessons and focused on developing critical thinking skills and stressed one on one interactions with the students. With history, the real teaching comes not in the memorization of facts, but in gaining an understanding of context, critical thinking, and the ability to approach the subject with a degree of relativity. I believe that the best learning comes from creating an atmosphere of friendliness and mutual respect between student and tutor. I was able to establish this relationship with my students in Ukraine.

I am very patient and reassuring to students and wait for them to get the answer on their own when tutoring mathematics. I show them how to do it first, then let them try, and then re-explain.
