A child's imagination is my lesson plan

I've been fascinated with computer programming since I was 8 and found a book about Fortran in my grandma's encyclopedia set. Our school had a handful of computers but no programmers. There was a single book in the library that I had checked out constantly until the librarian finally just let me have it when I graduated 8th grade. I went to college and began to learn more and finally met the mentors that were so important to my journey. I have a degree in Computer Science and I've been employed as a programmer since 2002, including time in the US Air Force doing 3D flight sims and the medical technology field. I can teach basic programming, robotics and can answer questions from "how does a computer make sound?" to "what's a transistor?". This is my craft and I want to share it with the next generation. I love art and feel very strongly that it should be a very important part of everyone's education. Students are anxious to actively participate. I do a demonstration while I lecture on a particular point, i.e., perspective, form, light, color theory, etc., then let them have time to execute a given assignment in class. At this point I give them personal attention. I have a "critque" at the end of the session and have them participate. I require constructive comments so as not to discourage anyone and to promote the notion that everyone has a unique and valuable point of view . Homework is assigned and I ask students to keep a sketchbook, which should be drawn in daily. I ask to see these ungraded books intermittently throughout the course.
