A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I enjoy teaching and couldn't see myself doing much else.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since November 2009, I’ve been teaching general biology at Logan-Hocking High School in Logan, Ohio. I have developed lesson plans, managed classroom learning, doing all the things any other science teacher would. In the summer of 2009, I worked in Albany, New York for the Albany Pine Bush Preserve conducting surveys in the preserve for the endangered Karner Blue Butterfly. All the assigned tasks required knowledge of general biology, especially in plant natural history. I graduated in May 2009 from Muskingum University where I obtained a B.S. in biology. My coursework for this degree included Molecular Biology, Genetics, Conservation Biology, Advanced Botany, Vertebrate Natural History, among others.

If one word could describe my teaching style it would be the word flexible. Each student is unique and different and needs to be taught in a way appropriate for him or her. A Little Bit About Me...

I received my bachelor degree (BS in Biology) in May of 2009. Prior to my biology degree, I was in the Mechanical Engineering Program and took extensive math. I took Calculus I, II, And III, and then Differential Equations. I began the master's program in biology September 2009, while working as a teaching assistant at The University of Akron. I taught Fall 09, Spring 10, Summer I, and Summer II. I taught Genetics, as well as Principles of Biology. My master's thesis is involved with DNA sequencing, molecular techniques, and general biology. I enjoy teaching my passion: Biolgy. I am a very patient person, but persistent.
