I'm Here to Help!!!

I am a twenty eighty year old graduate of the University at Albany where I received my Bachelors in English Lit. in 2011. I have no previous teaching or tutoring experience but that does not mean I lack the knowledge or skill necessary to help one learn and grow. I am an avid reader and aspiring writer and try to put thought to paper every day.
I have often thought about becoming a teacher and have been told by friends, families and previous instructors in my own learning I would make a good one but I feel my personality would be better served in a more laid back and less rigid atmosphere. I am very laid back, amiable and have a strong passion for what I've learned and what I do (the whole aspiring writer thing I mentioned earlier).

English Language Arts Teacher

I believe that real learning takes place when students are actively engaged in the material. Finding the right materials to teach with will often inspire intrinsic motivation.
I have currently spent over 350 hours in a variety of school settings. From private school to public, first grade to twelfth, I have seen it all. The majority of my experience has taken place in a suburban middle school, however I have also spent a reasonable ammount of time working with inner city high school students. I double majored in college to recieve a bachelors degree in literature and writing, and spent a full year interning at a student run newspaper as a journalist and copy editor. After graduating college I taught elementary K-8th grade in NYC. I taught for one year and decided to live Paris, France teaching English. I lived in Paris, France for 1.5 years then moved to Rome, Italy, again teaching English. My experiences were wonderful as I met people who really enjoyed learning English and needed it for work. After 6 months I returned to the states and taught at a Junior High School on the Lower eastside of NYC. I left teaching after 10 years to market computers.
