Every Moment Can Be a Teachable Moment

This fall, I begin my twentieth year as a teacher. I'm still teaching because I'm still curious myself about the world around us, and sharing that passion, curiosity, and drive to know is part of my classroom every day. Showing learners the path to success is not just my vocation--it's an avocation. I love to incorporate art and sensory experiences into everything I do to really activate the brain. The "Drill and Kill" is very rarely appropriate, so I tailor every approach individually. What works for one student may not work with another. My formal training includes many intervention types and experience with multiple programs and curricula, so I have a large pool from which to draw...then we get creative! My style REALLY aims for those over-arching foundational skills like critical thinking, thought organization, and problem solving.
