Chess is one of my top subjects! I've been playing chess since I was 6 or 7. I know almost everything there is to know about playing the game. I can be exceptional opponent as well as an exceptional teacher.

I am not self-centered and I help people whenever I can. I like when people ask me for help because it makes me feel like I'm doing something right and that I can make a small difference if nothing else.

A Little Bit About Me...

I started teaching Music in 1984. I taught part-time, temporary while pursuing education goals and working as a professional musician. In 1998 I became an adult educator, and in the following nine years I taught GED, Workforce, Computer and ESL. I learned to speak Spanish from some of my ESL students. Today I run a new program called Bachillerato de las Americas en Arkansas, comprised of curricula obtained from Kingston, Jamaica and Heredia, Costa Rica. I enjoy teaching all age levels.
I consider myself a facilitator, not an authoritarian. I ascribe to the principles set forth by Malcolm Knowels and Benjamin Bloom. I rely on the strength and motivation of the student. During two years of my tutoring experience, I realized that students do better in their classes, when they are excited and interested in the subjects and believe in their own ability to excel. My passion for the business subjects made my tutoring fun, and my students visibly improved their studying habits and their grades. I also used a "watch me" technique to motivate student’s learning.
