I believe that the most important element of teaching and tutoring is the ability to vary one's teaching style to meet the learning style of a student. I am patient and comfortable explaining things multiple times and in multiple ways. I believe I have the creativity to help any student find a way to make sense of his or her material. In discovering their different learning styles, I was able to teach my students in a way they understood. Seeing the light in their eyes as they figured out a problem gave me a passion for teaching. I believe in diversity in teaching styles because each student is unique and each has different abilities in various areas. As a substitute in the Woodburn School district I could pick up material quickly and teach in various teaching styles depending on the classroom.
After graduation, I taught on a transitional teaching license. I taught in the Woodburn School District. I then went to Japan and taught English as a second language. I grew up between Bolivia and the United States and speak Spanish and English fluently. I am a firm believer in demanding excellence from my students. Also, without a goal one cannot achieve anything; therefore we set challenging goals, and utilize every resource in our capacity to achieve those goals. To take the student on the most challenging course as an educator sometimes we must take the course with them.
