A Little Bit About Me...

How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. I have been a CEO, Vice President, Consultant, Senior Broker, Artist, Photographer, Glass Blower, Jewelry Designer and writer, the job titles have changed over the years; the only consistent has been that teaching has always been a part of my working life.

My style of teaching depends on the needs of the student, their skill level, potential and suggestions of the parents. If the student has no general learning difficulties and exhibits potential in other subjects, then I begin by creating a baseline and comfort level with the subject matter. I seek to set up small, achievable goals to illustrate that progress will come with time and effort. My focus is always on realistic progress based on established time constraints and includes some challenge to reach beyond expectations.
I have 40 years professional experience in Accounting, Budget, Auditing, Project Management and General Management. With my major throughout College all areas of Business were reviewed, Marketing, Management, Accounting & Finance and then one was chosen as your concentration to primarily focus on. I chose Finance with a minor in Information Systems. I have done accounting and payroll for about six years prior to about a year and a half ago switching over to do work in Information Systems where I am presently. I enjoy working with the mathematical side of my major very much and bring a lot of experience with that from my education. Math is definitely a strong suit for me. My degree is a Bachelor of Science with like I mentioned a Concentration in Finance and a minor in Information Systems. I have tutored students in Finance, Accounting and Math.
