While working as a assistant professor at a number of institutions (including the University of Chicago, University of Texas ,San Antonio and several others) I found I almost always had to teach my students how to take notes, how to read to locate crucial information and how best to structure written assignments. I have also had a lengthy career as a print journalist and have developed my communication skills to a fairly high level.
