I'm a graduated student from Purdue University with a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology (SLHS). Between my time in both high school and college, my GPA never dropped below a 3.0. Both settings of education included years of math and science, and in high school four years of writing, English, and history. I have worked with the French public schools teaching English to non-English-speaking French students. This was a joined effort between my universities and the public school system. In addition I have worked for various families as a nanny, where it has often been my responsibility to teach their children the English language.
I am a very-hands on teacher. I think the approach to teaching most any subject is making it "real" for students. Talking about the impact of a historical event, having daily conversations in a foreign language, and keeping a journal are all examples of exercises that I would use to help students who are struggling.

I have been teaching in different areas and capacities for three years now. I started by teaching English to Korean students in Daegu, South Korea. Here I taught all different skill levels and ages. When I returned to the United States I began working at Sylvan Learning Center. I was responsible for running the center. Here I was trained in many of the Sylvan Learning methodologies and feel very comfortable in identifying obstacles that hinder a students progression. At which time I incorporate learning strategies that help them get over the "hump"

To do this, when coaching Chemistry, I would have the student present a problem. Then, I'd say, well, let's figure this out together.
