Let's make learning fun!!!

I have worked with children for over 15 years. During this time I have provide homework help and tutoring in Math, Reading and Spanish. The children that I have worked with range in age from 5 to 17 years old. I have also done an extensive amount of work with infants and toddlers in the field of early learning as a nanny. My experience in working with children of so many ages has helped me to know what steps to implement in order to make children feel comfortable and confident while addressing challenges to learning materials. I have always enjoyed math and reading as a student and spent a short period of time studying Spanish abroad. During my time in college I was even more hands on with the youth enrichment at my church, working as a counselor/mentor for Vacation Bible School and the after school program.

Elementary Special Education Teacher

I have been teaching students with many different special needs for the past 19 years. My experience ranges from students with severe developmental delays to students with emotional disabilities. My experience has mostly been with students who have learning disabilities. I also have son that has an IEP for learning disabilities and is thriving now in school. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade.
My teaching style is student centered. I try to figure out what work best for each student and go from there. If a student has a learning stye that is very hands on then I will try to make sure a portion of my lesson is tactile. My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : I have been studying Elementary Education for the past four years. Two of the courses was about teaching the Reading subject to Elementary Grade Students. During my Student Teaching, I worked with all fourteen students in their reading. I enjoy looking at the student's interest and finding a book base off of that. I found that students are more likely to want to read if the book is of interest to them.

I have been working with children for the past seven years. Four of those years have included homeschooling pre-school and pre-kindergarten as well as homework help and tutoring the children that I was babysitting. I love tutoring because it allows me to work one-on-one with my students. Tutoring, also, allows me the opportunity to create the ultimate tutoring experience based off of the students learning style and interest. The students that I conducted homework help and tutoring with were within grades 2nd through 6th. I conducted my Student Teaching in a first grade classroom and loved every minute of it.
