Since undergraduate work, I have worked in the business world, primarily in the manufacturing arena. My academic experiences have continued on some level. In times past I tutored high school math students in North Carolina. I am proficient is equations, inequalities, Cartesian Coordinate System, polynomials, factoring and functions.
My style focuses on the processes in arriving at a solution. The learning goal in mathematics is to impart understanding of the process of working toward a solution, not attaining the solution. I have been a school librarian/media specialist for 26 years. I have worked with students in grades K-12. My role as a librarian enabled me to interact with students of all learning levels. Students who struggled would come to me to find materials that they could understand more easily. During times that I did not have classes in the library, I was usually assigned to tutor students who were in the low percentile groups based on MCT scores. I helped them with language, reading, and math.
I used my skills as a librarian to encourage students to explore and enjoy books. We explored different types of literature genres, researched using the computer, and utilized the reference books in our library.
