While in high school I was choosen as a Top Student to be able to go and work for the summer and tutor grade school children. When I started I tutored 3rd students and the next year I was able to teach high school freshman Algebra. I enjoy working one on one with the students. I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization. I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky. After earning my doctorate in math in 1966, I began teaching at the University of Massachusetts as an assistant professor of math. I was promoted to associate professor in 1972, and continued there until 1977. In 1977 I moved to South Bend to join a Christian community there. I taught part-time at Notre Dame, St. Mary's and IUSB. In 1981 my community started Trinity School, and I taught there from 1981 until I retired in 2007. In 2008 I decided to do missionary work with a group in Indianapolis, and did some tutoring at IUPUI. Last Feb. we moved to Evansville. Last summer I tutored at Ivy Tech . I work hard at leading students to figure things out for themselves. But if they get too frustrated, I will spell things out more in detail.
