I graduated with a double major from Fairfield University where I was involved with volunteer groups that tutored middle school aged children from surrounding areas. Over the years I have also spent time as a nanny and have been in charge of homework and school projects. While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. During the application and acceptance process I was an adjunct faculty member at a local technical college. My courses taught were remedial Algebra, biology, and anatomy and physiology. I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. Positive reinforcement is the key. When a student sees that an adult is taking an honest interest in them, then they are not only more willing to learn, but more able.
