Journalism is one of my top subjects! I have a B.A. in Journalism with over ten years of professional writing experience for newspapers, magazines and Websites throughout the country on both a full-time and freelance basis.

After earning a Journalism degree in 2005, I spent four years as a full-time sports reporter at two daily newspapers in Pennsylvania (The Record Herald from 2005 to 2007 and the Public Opinion from 2007 to 2009). In 2008 I was honored by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association with a Keystone Press Award for feature writing. Since 2009 I have worked as a freelance writer covering things such as the Carolina Panthers, Durham Bulls, Team USA baseball, Nationwide Tour golf, aviation, high school basketball and more. I currently cover high school sports on a freelance basis for the Garner-Cleveland Record (News and Observer subsidiary).

A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer a hands-on approach when possible. I lik to help the children relate to what they are learning in order to help them remember it.

My comments on tutoring Journalism : I have two years experience writing for the Daily Tar Heel and completed an internship with the local NPR station, WUNC.

I have been a tutor since high school, when I taught my classmates as a way to earn money for a Nintendo. I loved helping my friends succeed, so when I went to Duke University I continued to tutor my classmates through the Peer Tutoring Program. My zeal for tutoring even extended over the summer, when I would tutor fellow campers as they prepared for their Bar Mitzvah. I have always been interested in many different subjects, so I majored in public policy, which combines math and writing, and I have spent the past seven years as a professional writer and editor.
