A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching since I was young. I have tutored students since the age of 14 and I have taught students from ages 3 to 18 years old. I have been teaching in the Texas public school system for the last 4 years and I have loved every minute of it! I have taught all grades from Kindergarten to 5th as a special education inclusion teacher. As an inclusion teachers I have been able to teach grade level content to students who understand it but need for it to be taught in a different way. I am excellent at lesson differentiation and working with individuals who need help the most.
As a Special Education teacher at heart, I firmly believe that education needs to be guided by the student. I may have a lesson to teach but I am constantly changing the lesson depending on the individual student. I believe that learning should be a fun experience that is according the the learners pace.

Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! Had a son with severe dyslexia as well as being extremely gifted which made identification difficult. I learned through being on the International Dyslexia Association branch board for 14 years as a lay parent by attending workshops, conferences, and got exposed to various teaching strategies how to help such a student. They may come in mild, moderate, and severe levels, along with other co-existing conditions like dysgraphia (poor handwriting), most excel at math, but some have difficulty with word problems because of their problems with reading and comprehension. Teach about some of the problems being gifted bring to the equation, and what your educational options might be. My language intervention program has showed huge success and is producing significant improvements in reading skill, comprehension, and done in a minimal amount of time which saves you money in the long run. I prevent reading failure and get you on to the path of success.

One-on-one, sequential, multisensory, and repetitive approach.
Time spent attending conferences and workshops began to help me learn how to help my severely-dyslexic son and grandson. Then I helped apply some of the concepts learned to help several dyslexic families with the problems they had including ADD/ADHA, organizational, spelling, reading, and comprehension issues. I have been volunteering for several years gaining experience along the way. Every student I have helped has had some kind of learning disability involved and guess those have various levels of dyslexia. A Little Bit About Me...

I am Special Education Certified, and know how to work with students with different disabilities. This includes ADHD/ADD problems, Dyslexia, Reading comprehension, Autism, and many others. My daughter is Autistic, has a learning disability, and is Bi-Polar, so I have personal experience with people with disabilities. At present I am tutoring a College Student who is Autistic. I have the patience and understanding plus skills to tutor anyone.
I am a seasoned veteran in Education. I taught for 28 years, and was a school counselor for 7 years. While in New York State, I was employed through the Alternative Suspension Program as an LVN. While there,I assisted with the teaching of students. This in turn gave me the opportunity to obtain my certification in Teaching. I remained in this position for two years. During this time, I had my own case load of 5-8 students grade 7-12. Following this position, I was employed at a tutor for those youth who were home bound.
I attended college later in life. Recently, the opportunity arose to better myself. I chose Early Childhood Education and then continued on to obtain my Bachelor's Degree. Following this, I returned to school for Nursing. Eventually, we moved to Texas where I applied,tested and obtained my LCCA License.

A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduting from college, I became an after-school tutor, grades 4-6, focusing on all levels of homework and emphasis on students who had particular needs. I entered the teaching field in 2005 as a high school English teacher in grades 9 and 12. I learned extensive outlets and skills in regards to test preparation, research, grammar, and real-world applications. My second and third year teaching was in an academy setting focusing on law. I taught grades 9, 10 and 12. There I was able to learn legal gargin, community involvement with our students and their education, and law papers.
