In the mid-to-late 1980s I led workshops and served as a chaperone for U.S. and international foreign exchange program students aged 16-19 under the auspices of American Field Services (AFS). Then in the late 1980s and mid-1990s, I taught the basic speech course (public speaking) at several urban/suburban college and university settings (DePaul University, Loyola University, College of DuPage, Harper College), in addition to storytelling classes at two non-traditional adult learning centers in Chicago. Currently, I am applying for substitute teaching at Winnetka and Evanston high schools, as well as for standardized test and reading/writing skills tutoring jobs before I become a State of Illinois certified English Language Arts teacher (middle/high school level) in June 2010.
