The majority of my experience lies within the field of Human Services/Counseling. However, I have substitute taught for about 18 months, elementary level and high school level. In addition, I have tutored foreign languages on a college level for two semesters.
I have always enjoyed teaching. I try to take into consideration the individual's learning style when teaching. Many kids learn best when a "hands on" approach is incorporated into the lecture or instruction. I am laid back, patient, have a good sense of humor, and have never had difficulties connecting with youth of all ages. Sometimes, I have used creative ways to teach. I feel it is important to hold the interest of a student and ignite a childs' natural curiosity.

In the process of earning my BA in History (minor in Archaeology), I became familiar with a broad range of historical subjects. My certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) gave me a familiarity with mathematics and statistics, as well as conventions of scientific research and reporting. My MA required a publication-ready thesis, which would not have been possible without organization and self-motivation.

My strengths are in identifying a students weaknessess and giving them the tools needed to succeed. I provide the best that I have to give and know that the student will respond with his or her best as well. My goal is to achieve a level of motavation so that the student will be proud of his/her achievements in reading and math.
