I believe that students do not learn the same way. My teaching style incorporates all learning styles. When teaching a lesson I believe in using secondary reading sources, technology, video clip and other creative outlets. I believe that you must motivate the student to learn not thrust curriculum at them hoping it will sink in. I have five years of experience working with troubled youth and students with disabilities.
I have been teaching English and History education for three years. I have experience on the 7th, 8th 9th and 10th grade levels. My teaching style approaches the learner with patience and creativity. As an art and writing student, I realize that many kids learn differently, and I try to approach each situation as a unique situation. As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence. Because of this my teaching style involves breaking down the writing process into a format that is understandable for the student and using the foundations of their learning. A Little Bit About Me...

After receiving the Ph.D. from Notre Dame in 1985, I taught at Saint Mary’s College, Purdue University North Central, and Notre Dame, and currently am teaching selected courses – just one each term – for Trine University. I have taught a variety of courses in Sociology, Criminology, Deviant Behavior, Social Psychology, Philosophy, the History of Human Thought, Writing, and American Popular Culture. In addition to my teaching experience, I have co-authored a book, a chapter of a book, several papers, and three e-books.
